Martin Nievera’s father passes away

The father of concert king Martin Nievera, Roberto Jose “Bert” dela Cruz Nievera, has passed away at the age of 81.

Martin was the one who confirmed the news through an Instagram post yesterday, March 27.

He posted a throwback photo of him and his father with the caption: “I can’t believe you’re gone. Life will never be the same again.”

Singer Pops Fernandez, Martin’s ex-wife, also took to Instagram to leave a message for her departed “second dad”.

“To daddy Bert Nievera, my second dad, may you rest in peace. So saddened to hear this news. Thank you for all the beautiful memories. Condolences to the Nievera family,” she wrote.

Martin and Pops’ eldest son, Robin, also reminisced his fondest memories with his grandfather by posting on Instagram.

“One of my favorite memories on a stage. I’ll never forget this,” he said.

No further details have been disclosed regarding the death of the concert king’s father.

According to an article on PEP published on August 6, 2017, Martin revealed that his father suffered from a brain seizure that cause Bert to lose his memories for a week.

But after the seizure, Bert was able to regain his strength and memory.

Before his death, Bert was a veteran singer residing in Las Vegas, USA. He entered the show business after winning the “Search For Johnny Mathis of The Philippines” in the noontime show na “Student Canteen”.

During the 1960s, he came the lead vocalist of the pop group Society of Seven, aka The Fabulous Echoes.

Bert has also released a series of studio albums during the 70s and 80s, including “Nievera”, “Sumasainyo, Nievera”, and “Remembers”.
