Star Cinema confirmed that the production of the upcoming remake of “Darna” is in “full swing”.

“The news article that came out [saying] that the Darna movie has been shelved is not true. Production is in full swing. Thank you,” the statement of Star Cinema management said.

Moreover, Mico del Rosario, PR Manager of Star Cinema, took to Instagram to debunk the false reports about the movie.

He posted a photo of an article with the headline “Is Darna shelved?”, to which he responded, “This is not true. Spoken already to Tito Ricky Lo and clarify that Darna has already started shooting. Tuloy na tuloy po ang Darna.”

It was announced last year that “Bagani” star Liza Soberano will be taking on the iconic titular role.

Further details about the movie project, such as the release date and list of cast, have not been released yet.

The remake of “Darna” will be directed by veteran director Erik Matti, who is also the brains behind award winning films such as “On The Job”, “Honor Thy Father”, and “Seklusyon”.
