The United States government has revoked the diplomatic and tourist visas of Leyte Representative and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, according to Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel “Babe” Romualdez.
The visa revocation comes as Romualdez faces an investigation over his alleged involvement in reported anomalies linked to flood control projects.
Meanwhile, the Sandiganbayan has issued a precautionary Hold Departure Order (HDO) against Romualdez in connection with complaints accusing him of plunder, direct bribery, violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, indirect bribery, and money laundering.
Romualdez has repeatedly denied the allegations, maintaining that the complaints are based on political intrigue rather than evidence and merit.
