Piolo Pascual to star in musical film about Marcos dictatorship

Movie-goers will be in for a treat as Piolo Pascual will star in an upcoming musical film about the Marcos’ dictatorship.

The film “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw” (Season of the Devil) was directed by award-winning director Lav Diaz.

It is a Filipino rock opera, black and white movie that will tell a love story during the Martial Law in the Philippines.

Pascual will be acting and singing as a poet-activist who is searching for his wife in a remote village.

Shaina Magdayao, Pinky Amador, Bart Guingona, Bituin Escalante, Hazel Orencio, and Angel Aquino will also be part of the star-studded cast.

The musical film will premiere at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival or Berlinale in Germany on February 15.

Diaz first entered the said film festival in 2016 with his eight-hour long film adaptation of El Filibusterismo titled, “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis,” which also starred Pascual. The said film won the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize.

The film’s showing dates in the Philippines have not yet been announced.
