Echoes Abu Dhabi: Making Filipinos’ Voices Heard

Whether you are a balladeer, a romantic poet, a storyteller, a musician or a crazy mad artist who wants to share your overflowing creativity to fellow artsy Filipinos and other nationalities, joining Echoes Abu Dhabi, a community for everything arts, is your platform to be.

Echoes Abu Dhabi was founded by two Filipinas, Angel Cruz and Belle Ramos.

According to Cruz, she has always wanted to start an open-mic event in Abu Dhabi.

“I wanted to create a platform for talented Filipinos to gather and engage with other artists in the city.” She shared.

“Belle, who is an event organizer and who has a knack for art as well thinks that this was a good idea, thus “Echoes Abu Dhabi” was born. We started early this year and are having a blast so far,” Cruz added.

Though, Echoes Abu Dhabi widely promotes spoken word poetry, it has become an outlet for other genres.

“Spoken word artists write their own poems/prose, and perform it on stage. They have the liberty of performance; the performances can vary in intensity and gesture. Artists can explore their scope with collaborations with music or other forms of art. Our stage is open to singers, writers or other crazy art you can indulge us in,” Cruz said.

Ramos, co-founder said that they created this platform for Filipinos who has a passion for arts thus making a community for them to interact and engage with other artist from different nationalities.

“We welcome new artists and upcoming ones to finally come out of their shells. We aim to create a stage that is very inviting; we target the audience who come to open-mic events with hidden pieces in their bags to finally let themselves be heard. We also encourage artists who have been performing for a long time to challenge their creative processes through evolution and exploration.” She said. (ALS)Echoes 20170126 65 1
