A 41-year-old Filipino clerk who was convicted of filming his female compatriot flatmates naked in the shower will be spending six months in prison after losing his appeal on the case.
The suspect installed a GoPro camera on the ceiling of their flat’s bathroom to take videos of his flatmates when they would take showers, reported Gulf News.
One of his flatmates discovered the camera while taking a shower and immediately told the other women in the flat of her discovery.
Upon confrontation, their male roommate admitted to filming his flatmates and convinced the women not to file a case. In exchange, the man promised to delete all the files in the memory of the camera.
However, one of the female roommates discovered the next day that the files were still in the memory and have yet to be deleted.
Over 100 images and video clips of the women naked were found in the memory.
The man pleaded not guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance on September 20 to the charges that were filed against him by his female flatmates. The police, however, testified that the suspect admitted to the crime when he was initially questioned.
The clerk was subjected to six months in prison followed by immediate deportation before he appealed for the case.
The appeal decision remains subject to appeal before the Cassation Court.
