Facebook Messenger might soon allow its users to unsend messages they did not mean to send or would like to take back.
The unsend button will allow users to completely remove a message not just from their end, but also on the receiver’s inbox.
The feature was first revealed on Twitter by Jane Manchun Wong, who was able to access the first prototype of this Facebook messenger feature.

Wong said that the messages can only be unsent within a specific period of time. However, it was not mentioned how long the timeframe to unsend messages will be.
A Facebook spokesperson has confirmed via TechCrunch that they are indeed testing the new feature.
“Though we have nothing to announce today, we have previously confirmed that we intend to ship a feature like this and are still planning to do so.
“Facebook internally tests products and features before they ship to the public so we can ensure the quality of the experience,” the Facebook representative said.
However, there are also pros and cons to weigh in introducing an “unsend button” to one of the most widely-used messaging apps in the world.
As it might help those who sent something to the wrong person or would want to take back something they have said, there is also a possibility that people might use this feature to harass someone online and intentionally send hurtful things but would unsend their messages so that there will be no receipts that might be used against them.
