OFW acquitted of stealing Gucci bag

The case of the overseas Filipina worker (OFW) who was accused of stealing her employer’s mother’s Gucci bag has been acquitted.

The decision in favor of “Lailany” was released before the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court in Hong Kong, reported Asia Times citing reports from Hong Kong News.

During trial, the OFW pleaded not guilty saying that her employer’s mother abandoned the expensive bag.

After the prosecution failed to present the mother of the OFW’s employer to give her testimony, Judge Edward Wong Ching-yu decided to acquit Lailany.

The judge was quoted to have said that the bag was “very old, very dirty and very smelly, consistent with being refuse.”

Following her acquittal, the OFW expressed her happiness regarding the decision.

She is still currently unemployed as she has left her employer due to the accusations.
