Dubai Police laud café staff who returned Dh433,431 cash left behind by tourists

Dubai Police rewarded the honesty and good conduct of a café employee. On its Twitter account, the Dubai Police praised the employee’s initiative to return money amounting to Dh433,431 (approx. Php6,167,446 ) left behind by tourists at Starbucks.

The honest employee gave back the tourists’ passports as well, which they also left in the café.

The UAE government has a solid ‘lost and found’ initiative in place which aims to reunite lost items, from expensive tablets, laptops, cameras and watches to things of personal worth, with their owners.

In Dubai for instance, the entire emirate is mapped by Dubai Police. They have introduced an electronic system in hotels, enabling the staff to inform them about lost items spotted on the premises.

Police have also tied up with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to check on valuables left behind in taxis or buses.

In the first three months of 2018, lost cash, amounting to Dh950,000, was recovered by the police.
