The Abu Dhabi City Municipality impounded a total of 140 cars that were left unattended on the Capital’s streets.
Authorities issued 31 fines and 289 warnings to owners of abandoned vehicles in Abu Dhabi’s Mussafah and Mafraq industrial areas in an effort to maintain the city’s landscape and preserve its environment.
Owners of the impounded cars will each be fined Dh3,000 for “distorting the aesthetic appearance of the city”.
The municipality also called on car owners to keep their vehicles clean to avoid paying Dh3,000 fine, as stated in the Law No (2) for 2012.
The revised executive guideline on the offense alots a 3-day notice for motorists who violate parking rules.
Should the warned car owners refuse to remove their vehicles on the street after the given period, the municipality will tow them away to the impounding yard at Al Wathba.
