The Brazilian Agriculture Ministry said on Wednesday 14 countries maintain their suspension of the imports of Brazilian meat.
According to the countries’ Agriculture Ministry, Algeria, Bahamas, Mexico, Morocco, Qatar, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Zimbabwe have maintained a full embargo of the imports of all Brazilian meat products, while Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Grenada, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Belize suspended imports of processed meat.
In addition to the 14 countries with more ample restrictions on the imports of Brazilian meat, Japan, Switzerland, Vietnam, the European Union, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Canada and Peru, have maintained restrictions on the imports of meat originated from Brazilian meat-packers involved in the scandal.
The 21 meatpacking companies are accused of adulterating expired meat and paying hefty bribes to Agriculture Ministry inspectors to turn a blind eye and sign sale permissions.
