President Duterte, who turned 72 last Tuesday, opted for a quiet birthday celebration surrounded only by his family in Davao.
The Presidential Communications Operations Office said the President decided to enjoy his private time in his hometown as he had wished, Inquirer reported.
Duterte spent his official birthday leave like he had done in previous years – he took the opportunity to catch up on sleep.
At 3 pm, however, he was surprised by his grandchildren in his house in Doña Luisa Subdivision in Davao City.
The joyous gathering was captured in photos posted and shared online via the Facebook page of the President’s son-in-law, Mans Carpio.
In a snap, the country’s Chief Executive was all smiles as his daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte and his grandchildren gathered around him.
Even Duterte’s youngest grandchild, the newly born Marko Digong Carpio, nicknamed Stonefish, was also present in the affair.
