Malacañang pushed back against Senator Imee Marcos after she commented on President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s health, saying his condition worsened because no one was properly taking care of him.
In a Viber message to reporters, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro dismissed the senator’s remarks, urging her to be sincere and stressing that the President’s health should not be treated lightly.
“Huwag natin gawing biro ang kalusugan ng Pangulo. Huwag maging komedyante o payaso sa pagbibigay ng payo,” Castro said.
“Totoong puso at pagkalinga ang kailangan ng isang tao na may pinagdaanang karamdaman. Huwag magpakaplastik sa mata ng nakararami,” she added.
Senator Marcos earlier said that the President, her brother, fell ill because no one was looking after him.
Castro, however, clarified that President Marcos was placed under medical observation last Thursday after experiencing discomfort. He was brought to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City and has since returned to Malacañang Palace, where he resumed his official duties.
The 68-year-old President disclosed that he experienced diverticulitis, noting that the condition is common among individuals under heavy stress and those advancing in age. He assured the public that his condition was not serious.
