Think twice before hurling insulting messages or comments, that’s what a UAE man learned the hard way after a court found him guilty of slandering a reputation of a woman.
The Al Ain Court of First Instance ordered him to pay AED20,000 for hurting the feelings of a woman he slandered through text messages.

Court records stated that the man hurt the woman’s feelings by accusing her of befriending and seducing other men.
The woman filed a lawsuit against the man demanding Dh100,000 compensation for the humiliation and psychological damages she suffered from him.
She also asked the defendant to cover her legal charges incurred in the case.

The man rejected the plea claiming that the woman owed him AED 39,000 and that the case was filed to negotiate the amount.
The court ruled in favor of the woman, citing evidence that proved that the man caused moral damages to the woman. (RA)
