A Dubai municipality worker who missed the birth of his baby while he was performing disinfection in public places in the emirate was among those who were honored by the Frontline Heroes Office.
Mosharraf Hossain Sahid, 38, received admiration from the officials of the municipality for making personal sacrifices in the nation’s battle against the pandemic.
Last April 24, Sahid was in the middle of a 16-hour shift disinfecting Jumeirah district streets, while at the same time, his wife was in labor for their third child in Bangladesh.
Despite not being able to be with his wife during her labor, he said he was continuously praying for the safety of her wife and baby.
He admitted that his family were initially worried about him contracting the virus, but he kept on reassuring them with regular PCR tests.
Sahid said that although he missed to be there for his family, his wife knew full well that his job was equally important.
“What an honor it was,” he said, referring to his job as a frontliner in Dubai.
