A youth who hurled a metal mug at his family’s Filipina maid in Singapore has got his comeuppance.

Ng Jia Sheng, now 20, will be detained for six months at a reformative training center two years after a case was filed against him by Estabillo Soledad Agustin, 40.

Agustin has since returned to the Philippines and had waited for justice to be served, reported The Straits Times.

The two had an argument in June 2018 when Ng asked the Filipina to turn on the air-conditioner. He became angry when she replied in “an irritated manner”, said the report.

The incident quickly escalated into an argument with Ng throwing a remote control on the Filipina.

Despite the Agustin responding in kind, the youth started hurling insults on her.

“During the altercation, the accused told the victim that she was only a maid, was poor and had no right to be in Singapore,” Deputy Public Prosecutor Zhou Yihong said.

Ng then followed her to the kitchen. He then picked up a metal mug and threw it at her. It struck the Filipina on her left cheek, near her nose.

Furious, the Filipina retaliated to Ng’s insults by throwing various objects such as plastic medicine bottles and a plastic jug. But none of them hit Ng.

Agustin reported the incident to the police, according to The Straits Times.

As per medico-legal findings, the Filipina was found to have suffered multiple facial injuries, including a fracture in her nose.

The youth will have to surrender himself at the State Courts by November 20 to begin serving his sentence.
