The Senate report on the controversies hounding the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has contained a portion that says one of its officials celebrated his birthday in a “sexy way”.
Senator Richard Gordon bared to the media the contents of its findings in its 2019 investigation of the agency including a controversial birthday bash, reported Inquirer.
A PhilHealth regional vice president allegedly received a gift featuring a woman in a sexy dance number.
The video clip showed PhilHealth Regional Vice President for Region 4-B Paolo Johann Perez. He was surrounded by his staff members while he was sitting in a chair with a female sexy dancer in front of him.
“On his birthday, Perez received a gift, an enormous box, in his office. A girl, dressed in nothing but her underwear, danced and gyrated provocatively in front of Perez,” Gordon’s committee report said.
Gordon said that Perez did not stop the incident from happening and it was visible that he was enjoying the birthday surprise.
“Perez enjoyed the performance and was seen smiling in the video. He did not prevent the incident, or report and issue any reprimand to the employees who brought the girl,” the report added.
Gordon has tagged Perez as among the mafia working inside the state insurance corporation. The agency is currently under fire over corruption allegations.
Perez has denied the report and said that there was no naked performer during the celebration.
“My staff prepared a program. They got a talent to sing. And it’s not true that the talent was naked. Because the crowd was noisy, she was not able to sing,” he said.
Gordon wants to file charges against Perez for violating the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and the Norms of Conduct of Public Officials and Employees.
