A missing 17-year-old Emirati teen has been found dead off the Bahr Kalba beach on early morning of July 20 and is believed to have drowned, according to Sharjah Police.
The authorities began their investigation on Sunday evening after the boy was last seen swimming under a rip current.
According to the director of East Region Police, the body of the boy was recovered after a 10-hour search and rescue operation.
In cooperation with the police and coastal guards, the air wing team of the National Center for Search and Rescue brought his remains to Kalba hospital.
Col Al Kai Al Hamoudi, Director of Eastern Region Police, warned all beach-goers to check the weather and sea conditions before they head out to the beach.
“Sharjah Police again calls upon members of the community, citizens and residents to adhere to the directives and instructions related to maintaining their security and safety, in addition to following the signages along the beach in different languages that warns about dangerous areas for swimming,” Sharjah Police said in a statement posted on their Instagram account.
