Meanwhile, Duterte has urged Filipinos to continue to foster stronger bonds with the Chinese in time for the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
“As we open a new page in our shared history, may we foster even stronger bonds of friendship with those of Chinese descent all around the world through cooperation, investments, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties,” Duterte said in a statement.
The President reminded everyone to look at the decades long ties of Filipino-Chinese culture as demonstrated during Chinese New Year.
