Dubai is known as the eccentric city of superlatives and countless Guinness World Record titles – from the tallest man-made structure (Burj Khalifa, which stands at 828 meters) to the fastest police car (US$2.6 million Buggati Veyron)… the list goes on.
This one hits the spot: a helicopter taking up three spaces of the basement parking at the Mövenpick Hotel in the locality of Jumeirah Lakes Towers that dropped jaws and startled everyone, wondering how it got there.
It turned out it was a 100-kg toy chopper to be used to entertain guests throughout the holiday season, The National UAE reported.
A source from JLT hotel also told Khaleej Times the chopper was primarily for children to take pictures and have fun with.
“We kept it in our basement as we are yet to get the required permissions to place it in our restaurant and also because we wanted to surprise and excite our guests,” the insiders said.
“Three of us conveniently placed it on a cart and brought it down the way cars come into the basement,” they added.
The strange prop will surely engage guests to take staying in at the hotel onto another level this year-end season.
