Team Philippines bagged a massive harvest in the 2019 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in California, USA.
The Filipino snagged 136 gold medals, 86 silvers, 76 bronzes, 36 semifinalist medals ad 49 division winner plaques.
Team Philippines’ National Director Gerry Mercado also won the Diamond Award and Superior National Director.
Three members of the team each received scholarship awards from the New York Film Academy, while there were two recipients of the Jeff Webber recording contract award.
The 106-strong Team Philippines also won second place for Best National Costumes in the WCOPA Parade of Nations.
The 390 medals that Team Philippines won were the largest since it joined the annual competition in 2005. The team’s previous largest haul happened last year when it raked in 286 awards.
The country’s delegation was awarded with the WCOPA Diamond Award as the largest delegation this year.
The biggest win was for Coalixon, a three-member male dance group from Sultan Kudarat, who bagged the title of 2019 Senior Grand Champion Dance Group of the World.
The Philippines had eight grand finalists including Coalixon, vocalists: John Raigie Bautista Borja, Princess Julianne Gomez, John Javis Paat, models: Jasmine Heart Genetiano Domingo, Karl Jade Ventura, April Abegail Bagnes Chiu, Ray Froilan Camacho.
