Potato Corner is aiming for a bigger presence in the Philippines and abroad, setting its sights on having 5,000 franchises globally in the next five years—four times bigger than their current network of 1,025 stalls.
About 80 percent of the company’s stalls are run by its partners, as the company’s success is anchored on the strategy of creating new entrepreneurs.
Jose Magsaysay, the CEO of Cinco Corp., the company behind Potato Corner, hopes to become a mentor to Potato Corner’s entrepreneurs, reported Entrepreneur Philippines.
“Sometimes, it’s not even about the business, it’s about the person. If a hardworking person gets a break, he will likely succeed. That’s what I want to give now, a chance for others,” Entrepreneur Philippines quoted Magsaysay as saying.
“Our next phase [in Potato Corner] is to help our existing franchisees be better entrepreneurs. They keep the company strong…Our business is our franchises so we have to take care of them,” Magsaysay added.
A potato corner franchise can cost between P200,000 to P1,200,000 depending on the store type and location.
The company started out in 1992 simply as a way for the owner and his partners to earn some extra money.
