UAE royal injured, 4 soldiers dead in military chopper crash

Prayers poured in after a tragic helicopter crash that killed four UAE soldiers and injured an another three, including a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family.

HH Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who married the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and served the Presidential Guard, sustained injuries when their helicopter crash landed in the Shabwah governorate in Yemen on Wednesday after reporting a technical failure.

    The United Arab Emirates is part of a coalition assembled by Saudi Arabia to help the Yemen government in its long-standing conflict.

Dr. Anwar Bin Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, was among the first to tweet for the speedy recovery of the soldiers.

“Praying this morning to God to protect and heal Shaikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Bin Zayed and his comrades. The sons of our nation are a great asset to our society,” he said on Sunday.

    The two other injured soldiers, Rashid al Dhahouri and Rashid al Baloushi, are currently receiving treatment at a German hospital.

    The four fallen Emirati soldiers – Captain Ahmed Khalifa Al Bloushi, First Lieutenant Pilot Jasim Saleh Al Zaabi, Warrant Officer Mohammed Saeed Al Hassani and Warrant Officer Samir Mohammed Murad Abu Bakr were put to rest on Saturday evening.
