Long-time broadcast journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon revealed on July 16 that she was one of the first employees to be let go by ABS-CBN following its decision to retrench workers after failure to have its franchise renewed.
Retweeting ABS-CBN’s announcement regarding the lay-off of workers, Drilon said she lost her job too, and that it was “one of the toughest days I had to face.”

Drilon has been with the network since 1989, serving as the co-anchor of The World Tonight and TV Patrol, as well as the head of ABS-CBN’s lifestyle ecosystem and executive editor of the ANC-X.
In another tweet, she wrote: “Babangon din ang mga Kapamilya. This may be our darkest hour. But don’t lose hope.”
