The World Health Organization on Monday warned that the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) becoming a global pandemic is now very real, AFP reported.
“The threat of a pandemic has become very real,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters.
However, the UN health body chief stressed that it would be the first pandemic in history that can be controlled and that we are not at the mercy of the virus.
The virus continues to rapidly spread around the world, with more than 110,000 infections reported and more than 4,000 fatalities recorded.
