Senator and Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao believes that not renewing the franchise of television giant ABS-CBN could be a big loss for the government
“Kung ano man ang problema nila, kung may violation sila, then kasuhan sila. Pero hindi naman siguro doon mapupunta sa closure,” Pacquiao said during the Senate hearing on the issues hounding the television giant’s franchise.
Pacquiao said that the network provided crucial information on natural calamities and national issues.
“Parang malaking kawalan ng buong sambayanang Pilipino ang mawala ang ABS-CBN dahil napakalaking tulong ito para sa ating bansa na magkaroon ng impormasyon ang bawat isa,” he added.
The House of Representatives has yet to tackle the franchise issue of the television giant.
Solicitor General Jose Calida has filed a quo warranto petition seeking to nullify the franchise of the network.
