Dubai saleslady steals 496 cell phones

An expat saleswoman accused of fraud and theft after stealing over Dh1.4 million worth of phone services is facing a possible deportation
The 31-year-old Pakistani works as a telecom operator and allegedly stole 496 smartphones after filing 496 SIM card applications for bogus customers, according to a report of Khaleej Times.
Her scheme took place January 1, 2014 to September 6, 2015. She was arrested and brought to the Barsha police station.
“She had abused her post and the power given to her to access the e-system (of the telecom company) and entered fake data. Hence, she unlawfully availed of the smartphones in bogus sale transactions,” the lawyer from the prosecution team was quoted as saying.
Transactions made reportedly lacked any documents that could prove the existence of the customers.
The trial will continue on March 1.
