DFA rescues Pinay OFW abused in Kuwait

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has rescued a Filipina domestic worker in Kuwait after her post went viral recalling her employers’ maltreatment.
In a Facebook post, OFW Delia Solomon sought the help of netizens so that she could be rescued from her employers.
Solomon said that it all started when she had a fight with her employer after she cooked two pieces of egg to eat.
“Nagalit po siya kasi niluto ko yung dalawang pirasong itlog, hindi pa po kasi ako nakakain ng buong araw, tinapay lang binigay sa akin sa tanghali isang piraso. Bago po ako matulog mga 11PM, nilaga ko po yung itlog para may makaib po ako,” she said.
Solomon the said that her employer caught her cooking the eggs and insisted that she had to buy her own food.
She later on said that her employer even attempted to hit her with cooking pans. The employer then decided to take all her documents, except her cell phone that she buried it in the sand.
Solomon also claimed that her employers threatened her to put in a water tank or be arrested by police officials if she would try to go back to her agency.
“While a distressed OFW’s plea was going viral in social media yesterday, our Kuwait PE worked quietly on extracting her. We are happy to report that she is now sheltered in our Embassy and we’re working on reuniting her with her loved ones next week,” the DFA said in a tweet.
The government has ordered a total deployment ban to Kuwait following the death of OFW Jeanelyn Villavende.
