There are more women than men in Russia — report

In this part of the globe, women run the country’s affairs.

There has been a widening gap on the population of women and men in Russia since 1897.

In a report by the 2018 Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), it was gathered that the population of women in Russia has reached 78.8 million while the population of men reached 68.1 million.

That’s more than 10 million shortage of men in their country, according to en.goodtimes.my.

Women will also outnumber men by 2036 in all of the regions except in Chukotka, a region located in the Far East part of Russia.

What could be the cause of this?

The same report said wars and infectious diseases were the main cause with men being more affected than women.

It was in World War II where the country lost 25 million men who served as soldiers at the time.

Jens-Hagen Eschenbaecher, a regional communications adviser at the UN Population Fund office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, said other factors of the shortage of the population of men may be related to fertility, migration and mortality.
