Filipino “Mobile Legends” addict dies of cancer

The young man in the Philippines who claimed his addiction to the online game “Mobile Legends: Bang Bang” has led to his illness died of Stage 4 colon cancer.

Condolences poured in on June 1 on the Facebook account of Michael Tumagan, almost a week after he was featured on TV, The Filipino Times learned.

His story made the rounds online after he asked for financial support for his treatment.

Tumugan claimed that he acquired colon cancer after he frequently deprived himself of sleep and skipped meals just to play the said game.

“Kung mababalik lang ang panahon para mapigilan ang pagkakasakit ko nito, nawalan ako ng disiplina sa katawan, naadik ako sa Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, to the point na hindi na ako kumakain at natutulog.

“Ngayon, ito ang nangyari sa ‘kin. Kaya sa lahat po ng bagay dapat talaga hindi nasosobrahan,” he said in his post.

He added that his doctors can no longer remove the tumor in his rectum because it has already affected his urinary bladder and gallbladder.

In his post, Tumagan said he knew that undergoing surgery will be too risky so they resorted to chemoradiotherapy to reduce the tumor size and ease the pain.

Meanwhile, almost a week before his demise, experts interviewed by GMA News & Public Affairs program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho clarified that Tumaga’s cancer case could also be hereditary and that the cancer might have metastasized due to his sedentary lifestyle.
