BI hires 300 new officers, e-gates seen to shorten immigration queues

In anticipation of the influx of passengers next week, the Bureau of Immigration hired 300 officers to station the immigration counters and gates of the four terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval said adding personnel at the electronic gates, queues and immigration gates would cut processing time for review of documents of passengers by 15 seconds.

There are expected 3-4 million passengers flying in and out of the Philippines during Holy Week.

“Malaki po ang maitutulong nyan sa pagpapabilis ng pila natin. We’re expecting a lighter Holy Week ngayon, mas maikli po ang pila compared to the previous years,” she told DZMM.

BI said passengers who have complaints can approached their supervisors or the bureau’s social media accounts, she said.
