Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) deputy administrator Arnell Ignacio on Tuesday, February 26, confirmed that he has stepped down from his government post.
Ignacio has yet to give a reason for his resignation but said that he will be holding a press conference soon, reported GMA News.
Ignacio said that he still needs to finish some of his tasks in OWWA before officially leaving the office.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) secretary Silvestre Bello III has not released a statement on the resignation as well.
President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Ignacio as OWWA deputy administrator in January 2018.
According to then Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Ignacio preferred to work at the agency to serve the needs of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Ignacio, a known supporter of Pres. Duterte, was initially appointed as AVP for the Community Relation and Services Department at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) in 2016.
