A four-year-old boy died after getting stuck and drowned inside an electric washing machine in a villa in Al Rawdha, Ajman.
Lt. Colonel Yahya Khalaf Al Matroushi, director of Al Humaidiya Police station, said the boy was with his uncle and grandmother. He went inside the washing machine and it might have slammed shut, as per Ajman Police preliminary investigation.
Hot water automatically flowed inside it before the washing cycle started.
When the boy’s mother returned to the villa to pick him up, the boy was found dead inside the machine due to drowning and suffocation.
The uncle broke the door of the washing machine to retrieve the boy’s body.
The police were later on informed regarding the incident.
Lt. Colonel Al Matroushi advised parents to keep a close eye on their children to avoid similar accidents.
The automatic start of the machine seemed unusual but foul play has ruled been out.
