Love triangle seen as motive for cop slay

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now looking at the angle of love triangle as for the slay of a policeman in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, on November 17.

NCRPO chief, Director Guillermo Eleazar, described the incident as a possible “crime of passion” as they investigate the death of PO1 Mark Carlo Pasamba who was shot to death by his fellow cop, PO1 Carlos Alberato Aljama, at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters, reported Inquirer.

Eleazar said that the suspect accused the victim of having an affair with his wife, who is also a part of the police force.

Witnesses claimed that the two had a confrontation after attending a work-related seminar in Camp Bagong Diwa around 8:30 a.m.

Following the confrontation, Aljama pulled out his 9mm service firearm and shot Pasamba to the chest who died at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.

The suspect was turned over to the Taguig City police by his colleagues.

PNP intends to file criminal charges against Aljama for murder and grave misconduct.

The suspect will also face possible dismissal from service.
