An Asian woman died while her 16-month-old daughter is in critical condition after they were hit by a speeding car in Sharjah on Monday, November 5.
According to authorities, a taxi driver hit the mother and her baby in Al Khan area near Al Qasba bridge in Sharjah while they were crossing the road, reported Gulf News.
The mother was declared dead-on-arrival while her baby was brought to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Al Qassimi hospital. The baby sustained fractures in her skull and different parts of her body.
Meanwhile, the taxi driver was immediately taken into the custody of the police and was placed under interrogation.
The deceased left behind three children – aged 15, 10, and 7 – and her husband.
Authorities reminded motorists to take caution when driving and to pay attention to crossing civilians.
