The family of the overseas Filipina worker (OFW) killed by her actor-director husband in Sweden is calling for the immediate repatriation of their family member and the custody of the two children she left behind.
Maria Sinambong, the mother of slain OFW Mailyn Sinambong, asked the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to prioritize the repatriation of her daughter and the possibility of the OFW’s children, aged four and nine, to be sent to the Philippines as well to be taken care of, reported Cebu Daily News.
In response, the DFA assured the OFW’s family that they will assist in the repatriation of her remains and in obtaining justice for her death.
Mailyn was allegedly murdered by her husband, actor-director Steve Aron Bakre Aalam, on September 23 in Kista, Sweden.
Initial information gathered by the Embassy revealed that the Filipina succumbed to injuries she sustained after she was severely beaten by her husband.
The suspect is currently under police custody and will be charged with murder.
