Many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are probably planning to return to the Philippines to celebrate the Christmas season with their families. After all the years of hard work overseas and being away from the family, it is now time to celebrate this special occasion with loved ones and be the Santa to their younger cousins and siblings by personally handing them their gifts.
Many OFWs, however, fear of the high cost of returning home and instead choose to just stay in the UAE to avoid burning a hole in their wallet.
Flight comparison website Skyscanner, however, noted that expats, including OFWs, can save a lot of money if they will be wise in terms of knowing when to book their flights to score tickets at a cheaper price.
For OFWs planning to return to the Philippines for the Christmas season, the best time to book tickets is 13 weeks before Christmas or around September 24-30.
Tickets during this time period are 13% cheaper than the average cost of tickets.
Meanwhile, avoid booking flights one week before Christmas (December 17 to December 23) as plane tickets at this time are 17% more expensive than the average cost of tickets.
Another way to book cheaper tickets is to keep yourself updated from seat sales offered by various airlines companies.
