The Social Security System (SSS) clarified that only retirement and disability pensioners as of May 31, 2026 are eligible to receive the early implementation of the second round of pension increases that took effect on June 1.
In a statement, SSS said pensioners whose contingencies, or dates of eligibility for benefits, fall between June 1 and Aug. 31, 2026 will receive their increased pensions beginning Sept. 1.
The pension fund earlier announced the advance implementation of the second tranche of pension increases, moving the rollout to June from the original September schedule.
The move aims to provide pensioners with earlier financial relief amid inflationary pressures and the economic impact of the ongoing Middle East fuel crisis.
SSS said it is releasing about P6 billion in additional pension benefits from June to August 2026 to help beneficiaries cope with rising living and energy costs.
Under the second tranche of the Pension Reform Program, retirement and disability pensioners will receive a 10% increase in their monthly pensions, while death and survivorship pensioners will receive a 5% increase.
The pension reform program provides annual pension increases every September from 2025 to 2027.
The final tranche is scheduled for implementation in September 2027, when retirement and disability pensioners will receive another 10% increase, while death and survivorship pensioners will receive an additional 5% increase.
After the completion of the three-year reform program, retirement and disability pensions are expected to increase by about 33%, while death and survivorship pensions are projected to rise by approximately 16%.
