5 OFWs, 32 Pinoy tourists rescued in Hong Kong during Typhoon Mangkhut

Five overseas Filipino workers (OFW) were rescued in a dive resort development in Hong Kong during the onslaught of Typhoon Mangkhut in the country.

This is according to Philippine Consul General to Hong Kong Antonio Morales.

He added that another two Filipinas were hurt, suffering minor injuries from falling debris, reported the Manila Standard.

Apart from them, 32 Filipino tourists also got stuck on a bridge on their way to the airport when the flight cancellation was announced.

The tourists were safely brought back to their hotel in Kowloon. All Filipinos are now out of danger, said the Consul General.

Morales also called on all Filipinos in Hong Kong to avoid going outdoors as clearing operations may take some time. There are around 220,000 Filipinos in Hong Kong.
