Following the collapse of a portion of Morandi Bridge in Italy, the Department of Foreign Affairs is yet to find out whether there were Filipinos affected by the incident.

The Philippine consulate in Milan, Italy has already dispatched a team to monitor the situation of the overseas Filipino workers in the area, reported RMN.

On Tuesday, August 14, a section of the bridge collapsed in Genoa during a storm, sending vehicles plunging downwards.

The Morandi Bridge is a highway bridge connecting France and Italy. It is 148 feet high, and 1.18 kilometer long.

According to Consul General Irene Susan Natividad, there were more than 25 lives taken by the collapse. Natividad added that there are 1,600 Filipinos in the country.

The DFA is hopeful that there are no Filipino casualties in the bridge collapse.
