WHO recognizes sex addiction as new mental disorder

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared for the first time that excessive sexual activity is considered a mental condition. Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder or CSBD is characterized by strong sexual temptations urging repeated sexual encounters.

People with CSBD disregard health and other activities to focus on sexual activities, reported GMA News. They are also not satisfied no matter how much sexual activity they have had.

However, CSBD is not categorized as an addiction. Its symptoms include exhibitionism or flashing private parts in public, watching too much pornography, excessive phone or video sex, voyeurism and fondling, and having extra marital affairs.

WHO noted that Compulsive Sexual Behavior disorder can lead to problems in familial relationships, and may affect job performance, among others.
