‘The more you spend – it doesn’t have to be on flights, it could be on your daily spend…every single dirham you spend will give you points, which in turn can be redeemed straightaway in full transparency so you can book your flight with no blackout dates.’
DUBAI: How about this? You gain dirham points for every expenses you make then come annual break, you have enough to cover plane fare for your holiday.
RakBank has announced it has partnered with Air Arabia and Mastercard, to launch a co-branded Mastercard Platinum Credit Card, which cardholders can use globally for purchases and cash withdrawals and tied up with Air Arabia’s innovative loyalty program called Air Rewards that is based on spend rather than miles.
“It makes travelling a lot easier and simply based on their spending pattern. It’s not like spending fortunes to get the benefits. It’s based on what you do every day for you to have these extra benefits,” Frederic de Melker, RakBank managing director for personal banking told The Filipino Times.
Housam Raydan, Air Arabia head of marketing and corporate communications, noting that the UAE Filipino community “represents a big part of (the airline’s) customer base,” said the card would benefit OFWs all the more.
“We meet the travel experience that they look forward to have. They visit Georgia, Armenia the whole Russia. And for them this card is the perfect platform to earn more points for their spend and redeem it whenever they want travel with us ,” he said.
Raydan further explained: “It’s a different value for money card. Usually airlines give miles as you use their card. This one gives you points. The more you spend – it doesn’t have to be on flights, it could be on your day to day spend – every single dirham you spend will give you points and those points that you accumulate eventually will turn into dirham value which can be redeemed straightaway in full transparency; so you can book your flight with no blackout dates.”
Customers subscribing to the new co-branded credit card will immediately earn a joining bonus of 15,000 Air Rewards that will, in time, get them access to free flights and more rewards from Air Arabia.
The airline flies to Armenia and Georgia; and is a popular choice among Filipinos in the UAE for their trips.
