An official from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) admitted the Rapid Response Team’s (RRT) rescue of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) violated Kuwaiti rules.
According to OWWA deputy director Arnel Ignacio, the RRT should have coordinated with Kuwaiti authorities before conducting the rescue operations.
So that’s why kung gagawin iyan it’s a covert operation,” he added.
The OWWA official also slammed the release of the video, tagged as “Rescue in the Desert”, to the media and on social media.
Parang ininsulto mo at niyurakan mo ang kanilang gobyerno,” Ignacio said.
Ignacio noted that three members of the RRT could be subject for arrest as they do not have “immunity.”
Earlier, the Kuwaiti government called the attention of Ambassador Renato Villa regarding the release of the video.
