Judy blames ‘anti-PDAF fund’ stand for CA rejection
Judy Taguiwalo speculates that her opposition to allotment of Priority Development Assistance Fund for congressmen prompted the Commission on Appointments to reject her as secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Taguiwalo failed to acquire the 13 votes needed to be officially inducted as DSWD secretary. In a press conference, Taguiwalo said she accepts her rejection and that she will leave the office with integrity.

Duterte OKs joint venture with China
Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte approves joint exploration in the West Philippine Sea between the Philippines and China. Cayetano assured that Philippines’ territorial rights and sovereignty will be upheld during the exploration. He added the President sees that the move will benefit the nation’s interest, considering that Malampaya “will run out”.

Taguiwalo rejected as DSWD chief
Despite being rejected as secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Judy Taguiwalo vowed to continue serving the people with “badge of honor”. Taguiwalo became the third Cabinet member to be denied of position, following Perfecto Yasay Jr. and Gina Lopez, who were initially nominated by President Rodrigo Duterte as secretaries of Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, respectively.
