President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, July 25, expressed gratitude for the assistance of the private sector to the families of the fallen government troops in the conflict in Marawi.
Each family will receive P1.25 million. Of the amount, P250,000 will come from Go Negosyo Kapatid and other groups.
During a ceremony at the Heroes Hall of Malacañan Palace, the president said an anonymous donor will grant P1 million each for the families of policemen and soldiers slain in the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City.
Duterte said he knew the identity of the rich donor but the latter refused to be named.
“There’s a rich person, whose name does not want to be mentioned, promised to grant P1 million each for you,” Duterte told the families of killed security forces who also graced the ceremonial turn-over rites of cash assistance.
“To the Go Negosyo Kapatid Family Care Fund under the Go Negosyo Kapatid for Marawi Program, your tireless efforts show that nothing is impossible as long as we work together,” the President said.
“I hope that we can continue this harmonious partnership to bring back prosperity, not only for Marawi but for the rest of the country,” he added.
During his speech, the President extended his condolences to the families of Filipino soldiers and policemen killed in action while fighting for the liberation of the Islamic City.
“I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the families of our troops who perished fighting for the liberation of Marawi,” the President said.
“I know that no amount could equal the precious lives of your loved ones. May you find solace in the fact that the whole nation condoles with you in these trying times,” he said.
The Chief Executive also expressed grief over the loss of his troops who died in the line of duty.
“The Philippines will forever be grateful for their heroism,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Duterte assured policemen and soldiers that the government is behind them as they continue the noble fight against terrorists.
“Together we will work assiduously to bequeath a peaceful and prosperous Philippines for the generations to come,” he said.
