The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is funding a cholera vaccination campaign in Yemen to stop the spread of the disease in the neighboring country.
The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomed the help as it tries to protect some three million Yemenis at risk of contracting the water-borne disease due to lack of clean water and proper health care.
The WHO plans to conduct a nationwide immunisation drive in Yemen to stop the epidemic.
Fahad bin Sultan, deputy secretary general for international aid of ERC, said the Dh33 million will also be used to support hospitals in Yemen in fighting the cholera outbreak.
Meanwhile, a United Arab Emirates ship unloaded 16,000 food packages at the port of Aden on Thursday for distribution to Yemeni families during the Ramadan. Another ship will deliver 40,000 food packages during the holy month.
