Flight bookings to and from Qatar considertably slumped nearly two weeks after Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates banned its airlines and Qatari travelers amid a diplomatic row.
“Last week, net bookings for all airlines flying in and out of Doha for global destinations swung to minus 23,000 as a wave of cancellations hit Qatar,” The National quoted a spokesman for Travelport as saying.
Travelport is a global Travel Commerce Platform that provides distribution, technology, payment and other solutions for the travel and tourism industry.
According to Travelport, net bookings to and from the UAE dropped from 4,700 to minus 36,000 last week.
The biggest slump was recorded in the Saudi Arabia-Qatar route with net bookings slumping from 10,000 to minus 110,300, the platform reported.
Qatar Airways is said to bear the brunt of the booking slump.
Travelers are canceling trips to and from Qatar due to the travel restrictions imposed by its Gulf neighbors, which accused Doha of supporting and financing terrorist groups.
