Dubai to open 35 new parks in 2026 under AED348 million expansion plan

Dubai Municipality announced plans to open 35 new parks across Dubai this year, investing AED348 million as part of the emirate’s drive to improve quality of life and expand green spaces.

The new parks, which will cover more than 340,000 square metres and serve 23 residential communities, are part of the Dubai Parks and Greenery Strategy under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The projects also fall under the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, a wider initiative that includes more than AED4 billion worth of projects aimed at building over 120 parks and 200 sports and recreational facilities across the emirate over the next five years.

According to Dubai Municipality, the new parks will be located within a five-minute walking distance of surrounding neighborhoods to ensure easy access for residents.

All 35 parks will be open and unfenced, designed to blend with nearby communities and include climate-responsive features. Officials said the parks are intended to function not only as green spaces, but also as community hubs with year-round activities and events.

Bader Anwahi said the initiative aims to create a “human-centric urban ecosystem” by placing public spaces within walking distance and tailoring them to the needs of residents.

The municipality said environmental sustainability will be integrated into the developments through expanded tree planting, recycled irrigation water, renewable energy systems, and the use of artificial intelligence and robotics to improve resource management.

Dubai Municipality is also inviting private companies to participate in the projects through public-private partnership models, in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

The new parks will feature five zones, including children’s play areas, sports facilities, food and beverage spaces, and indoor and outdoor venues for community events.

Collectively, the 35 parks will include more than 60 children’s play areas, 18 football fields, 20 multi-use sports courts, skate areas, running and cycling tracks, picnic areas, water features, and food outlets.

By 2040, Dubai Municipality aims to create 310 new parks and upgrade more than 220 existing parks across the emirate.
