UAE allows return of iftar tents in Ramadan 2022

Following a dip in the COVID-19 cases, the UAE authorities have decided to allow the Ramadan tents, a popular gathering place for iftar and suhoor during the holy month.

These tents were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority said on Monday that the tents would be reinstated this year.

During Ramadan, which is expected to begin on April 2, large tents are typically erected next to mosques to provide meals to low-income workers.

However, charitable organisations delivered iftar dishes directly to those in need rather than at tents or at mosques in 2020 to avoid mass gatherings amidst the rising case of coronavirus.
