More than 6.5 million jobs have been created under the government’s infrastructure program in the Philippines since 2016.
The jobs include nearly 700,000 generated under the Build, Build, Build program since the beginning of this year.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) from the month of January to August 31, 2021, a total of 768,062 jobs were generated under the government’s infrastructure program.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said they are looking to employ 1.6 million more workers during the last year of the current administration.
On August 9, the department launched “Bigay Trabaho,” an online job fair that offers job opportunities from various contractors in the country including as welders, laborers, civil engineers, materials engineers, technicians, equipment operators, foremen, and carpenters among others. So far, the online job fair has so far employed 1,090 workers around the country.
Villar said that the “Build, Build, Build Program” will still require millions of local manpower nationwide. (AW)
